What is Dermaroller?

Microneedling Therapy

Scar Treatment

Dermaroller, also called microneedling or collagen induction therapy, is a procedure in which small needles are rolled or stamped into the uppermost skin layer, the epidermis. The piercing creates little injuries that cause collagen and quicken its development. The body has developed a vital protein called collagen, which keeps the skin, muscles, and bones in good shape.

Our skin thins and loses its barrier when the production of collagen fully stops with age. Although it looks scary, microneedling is actually a non-invasive treatment that requires little downtime. Depending on the length of needles used, recovery time may be different as deeper wounds cause longer recovery.

Several benefits include:

  • Reduces acne scars
  • Reduce pigmentation
  • Increase collagen and elastin production.
  • Minimise pore size.

The many types

0.25mm
Fine lines

Enhances skin product absorption.

0.5mm
Fine lines, wrinkles, open pores

It aids in the production of a small amount of collagen and treats small skin problems, but may sometimes lead to minor bleeding.

0.75mm
Acne scars, pigmentation marks

For moderate skin issues, moderate production of collagen is best, but moderate bleeding may occur.

1.0mm
Open pores, acne scars, pigmentation marks

More impactful for those with deeper wrinkles, it stimulates collagen but has a longer downtime.

1.5mm
Cellulite, stretch marks, deep scars

It treats deep skin issues, aggressively boosts collagen, and may cause lots of bleeding.

2.0mm
Cellulite, stretch marks, deep scars

Ideal for more advanced skin conditions, deeper penetration level, but longer recovery period.

2.5mm
Deep scars

It is best for deep scarring, large amounts of bleeding, and massive collagen formation.

The procedure
Boost Skin Renewal
What does a dermaroller do?

Dermarollers are used to treat various types of skin problems, like stretch marks, discoloration, scarring, sun damage, large pores, fine lines, and wrinkles. In addition, it is also used to stimulate hair growth in the scalp and face.

Moreover, your skin will become more elastic through the application of microneedles. It makes your skin penetration better by opening tiny channels in the skin, which allows the creams, gels, or serums to penetrate deeply into the skin.

Customized Treatment Plan
How many treatments do I need?

You may need more sessions, depending on how severe your skin issues are. The standard is about one hour per session. Yet others may require one, four, or six treatments to ease their symptoms. The sessions are staggered to encourage healing. These sessions are generally 4-6 weeks apart, and the number of sessions is best determined by your dermatologist for your skin condition.

Minimal Downtime Care
How long is the downtime?

This treatment has a very short recovery. Two to three days later, when inflammation is at its highest, During this time, your doctor may advise avoiding vigorous activities to decrease the likelihood of skin irritation, trauma, and bruising.

Visible Glow In Weeks
When will I see the results from microneedling?

The time it takes for microneedling to show its results on your skin will depend on each person. Most people experience some peeling and flaking of their skin about 3 days after having a microneedling treatment. These changes occur as your skin gets into the healing process.

As fast as 2–3 weeks after your first procedure, you may notice some improvement in the tone and texture of your skin. This is usually the time it takes for the collagen to fully form, and the best results are seen after 3 months. Consistent treatments have a synergistic effect that results in improved and longer-lasting results.

Consult For Sensitive Skin
What skin types should avoid microneedling?

Generally, people of all skin types are suitable for microneedling. However, if you have conditions like active infections, problematic or severe acne, or other skin conditions that might make the treatment potentially dangerous, it’s always best to check with a skincare professional before performing the procedure.

Am I suitable
Is Dermaroller good for me?

An ideal candidate for dermaroller or microneedling is an otherwise healthy individual with relatively mild to moderate aesthetic skin complaints, such as fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, enlarged pores, and/or an uneven skin tone. Those with active skin infections, severe acne, open wounds, or who are pregnant or nursing would be excluded. It is important to consult with a dermatologist or a skincare professional to determine if dermarolling or microneedling is appropriate for you.

The risks
Can a risk be prevented?

Although microneedling is considered safe, it does come with its own risks. Immediately after the treatment, you may experience very much redness, and your skin will tighten and feel like you have a minor sunburn. Your skin doesn’t usually bleed during microneedling, but deeper treatments may cause some bruising. Unfortunately for anyone with keloids, microneedling is not a great idea and can actually make them worse.
