Extreme Reaction to Benzoyl Peroxide: Seeking Recovery Advice

Girls, good day! Like many on the forum, I've suffered greatly from Benzoyl Peroxide. My skin isn't sensitive and generally tolerates everything well, so I applied Benzoyl Peroxide all over my face for 3 days, not thinking it would be so harsh. As a result, my entire face is burnt. My skin is very dry and tight, similar to a reaction from a chemical peel, but with minor peeling. There's severe swelling, especially my eyelids are suffering. Today is the 3rd day. I'm applying D-Panthenol, Cicaplast Baume B5 by La Roche-Posay, and taking Chlorphenamine. Has anyone experienced a similar reaction? How long did it last? How did you restore your skin?

Well, it'll pass in about a week, but strictly avoid the area around the eyes, I once accidentally got it there and I've had a wrinkle for life, even though I was only 23. Take a break and then apply a 2.5% thin layer in areas where you usually have problems.

A massive thank you to everyone who responded! By the end of the third day, the swelling noticeably decreased and the red spots took on a more brownish hue. Perhaps, Chlorphenamine (on the second day of taking it) helped, but these are just guesses: I haven't managed to see a doctor yet. I used D-Panthenol all day. Severe fine peeling, itching, dryness, and skin roughening are still with me. But there are improvements. I bought Effaclar H restorative today. Applied La-Cri. Tomorrow I'll buy Emolium. There are so few reviews about the recovery period. I'm afraid that the skin won't return to normal or it will take a very long time.

It's not the fault of Baziron that you've suffered. It's not to blame that you didn't read the instructions. It clearly states that it should be applied carefully, only on spots and initially just a tiny amount. Under no circumstances should it be applied to the whole face. The medication is good, but it is a medicine and needs to be used correctly. I hope your face will return to normal soon. It would be better for you to see a dermatologist now, let them prescribe treatment and appropriate care.

Out of sheer naivety, I used Benzoyl Peroxide 5% on my entire face every morning and evening for almost 3 years!!! And then suddenly my eyes started to swell up terribly and my face was itching, by the way during this period I actually started to use it less frequently, and didn't immediately realise that it was because of it, thinking it was an allergy to something, so now another problem has appeared, some simple moisturising creams from the anti-acne line cause the same reaction 😭 apparently there's some component in Benzoyl Peroxide that I've developed such an intolerance to.
