Belief in Continued Nose Growth Fuelling Insecurity

Ladies, I beg you, no jokes or mockery. This is truly a sensitive issue for me. Some may think I'm mad, but I'm 99.9% sure that my nose (which is naturally quite large, or rather long) has grown over the past five years. If I compare photos from when I was 20, 21 (I'm now 25), it was definitely shorter. Back then, it was more or less in harmony with my face. But now it's just a nightmare. I'm only 25, and it's already so long. I don't even want to think about what it will look like when I'm 40. I don't have the money for surgery, after all, it's a large sum, otherwise I would have had plastic surgery, as my insecurities are tormenting me. Tell me, does anyone else have this problem, who believes that nose growth - is it not a myth?

There's a condition called Acromegaly - excessive, disproportionate growth of the limbs and facial bones due to a malfunction of the pituitary gland. From the Greek: Akron - extremity + Megas - large. So, OP, it's unlikely that you have this. More likely, you're just a worrisome person.

Most likely, you've just lost some weight, your face has become a bit thinner and your nose more noticeable. Or you've simply changed your hair colour, which can also make a big difference... Or perhaps, you're now applying makeup with different accents, which visually can also shift proportions... Right?

Author, I'm not sure what's causing your nose to grow so quickly. But it is true, our noses and ears continue to grow very slowly throughout our lives, right up until the end. They grow very slowly but throughout our life until old age. That's just how it is, I was told. Why our noses and ears enlarge as we age. And somehow our lips shrink.

In their youth, women often wear voluminous hairstyles, long hair (which also distracts attention from the nose), and as they age, they start to wear increasingly shorter "practical" hairstyles. This, plus the actual reduction in the size of eyes and lips with age, has given birth to the myth about the supposed growth of the nose, which if it exists at all, is hardly noticeable.

Don't be silly! The nose and ears are made of cartilage, and they grow throughout life. I watched a programme, either BBC or Discovery, and they said that over 20 years, the perimeter of the ear increases by about 1 cm. I was so shocked by this that I remembered it.

Oh, I have the same problem, OP, I understand you so well,☹️. Aside from the fact that my nose is wide, it's also long and I'm afraid of what it will become over the years. My family constantly reminds me of my big nose. I'm so envious of everyone else, I'm even afraid to wear glasses😟. Because of it, my appearance is repulsive. I've read the advice above and I'll give it a try.

I'm 39 years old. Yes, oh and ah 🀣 my nose and ears have gotten bigger 🀣 Just the other day, I was looking at my university photos, and in some of them, my nose is so lovely, as if I've had a rhinoplasty! Neat, small, in short, beautiful, but now it's just ordinary, it's gotten bigger and the nostrils have somehow expanded. In short, it's a horror 😟, if you compare!, but if you don't compare then life is bearable and necessary! My ears are almost always under my hair. But they really have somehow lengthened. Well, wonders.

I agree, the nose does get bigger, I only noticed it about two weeks ago, that now at 27 it's much larger than at 21.. and then your article, I panicked a lot... OP, hang in there, I understand you... perhaps facial gymnastics, this, indeed, might be the solution..?

Well...such a problem 😊 I'm 20 and my nose is far from perfect! It's long, I have big nostrils, and a meaty, potato-like tip, on top of that, I also have enlarged pores on my nose 🀣 When I imagine myself at 40, I start to laugh. Of course, I'm not happy with my nose, but I try not to tell people about it, especially guys. Only in my childhood did I buzz my parents' ears off with this "world problem". I don't touch my nose with cosmetics, I don't mask it with anything. Surprisingly, my nose doesn't bother me! There are also no problems regarding attention from the male gender, moreover, my flaw is compensated by beautiful eyes and plump lips. So, you need to think less about it, not to focus, accept and love yourself as nature created, not to look for flaws, but only virtues 😊 I dreamed of plastic surgery all my childhood, but now I doubt that it's worth it: they say that you will have a lot of problems after the operation..constant corrections, and it starts to grow as it pleases.. And in general, believe me, a big nose - these are such trifles! The main thing is not the forms, but the content! When communicating with a charming person, the appearance "dissolves" in the first 5 minutes of conversation.

For strengthening the nose muscles. C: Place your middle fingers on your nose in the bridge area. The fingertips should touch. Gently pull the skin down and hold it in this position. You need to put two middle fingers on each side, then slightly stretch. The nose needs to be tensed, roughly, as in the previous exercise - under the fingers, you need to feel the nose muscles tensing. In my opinion, it became thin and sharp in two weeks. I suspect it's from this exercise.

Well, over the past 2 months, my nose has grown (!)... The bridge and the whole nose in general. Glasses no longer fit... And I look at myself and notice that all my joints have somehow enlarged and look rough... I only find one thing on the internet: acromegaly 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭And what about acromegaly?!?

I have the same problem.... I of course had no doubts that there are people with similar problems, but what does it depend on and how to fight it??? I don't know, in 5 years my nose has completely changed, I can no longer be called snub-nosed...😟

I had a rhinoplasty almost 6 years ago. So now, looking at myself in the mirror, I'm starting to notice that a bump has reappeared on my nose... I'm sitting here now and don't know what to do?! Going back for another operation is scary, the result could be even more unpredictable. Doing nothing is also not an option, I can't live with this "wonder". 😭 Rubbish!!! 😟

At 15, I had a neat little nose.. but now, at 20, out of nowhere, I've got a bump and a tip..and it's bigger! True..it was my mum's nose, now it's my dad's.. I'm self-conscious..but my boyfriend says, now, if he sees a girl with a "neat little nose", he thinks she's not right..)) don't be upset)) πŸ˜†πŸ˜†

You're right, original poster, the nose and ears are organs that grow throughout life. This is scientifically proven. The growth hormone is to blame, which affects the growth of joint and connective tissue. Pay attention - all old people have an enlarged nose tip and gnarled hands. This is the result. So, we'll all be there one day.
