14-Year-Old Struggling with Hyperhidrosis Seeks Advice

I'm 14 years old and I have hyperhidrosis. It probably started around Year 5, my palms started to sweat, and in Year 6 my armpits and feet. In my family, my mum's hands also sometimes sweat, and my older brother, who's now 20, has had this since he was about 12. My hands sweat a lot, even now I'm holding my phone and wiping my palms on the blanket because the phone is just all wet. It really interferes with my daily life. For instance, I never wear tight clothes, or even T-shirts, because they get sweat stains. Even if I'm in a calm environment, meaning I'm not nervous, like at school, I still sweat. Antiperspirants don't help. Since the start of Year 7, when I went to school, I started noticing that my body emits an unpleasant smell, like when my palms are sweaty, it smells like onions or something. I wash twice a day + a sauna once a week, my clothes are always clean. Still, nothing helps. The smell gets worse when I eat garlic or something with spices. I've already talked about this with my mum, but she just doesn't want to listen to me. I don't know what to do.

Firstly, it's worth identifying the products that intensify the smell and getting rid of them if the odour bothers you considerably. Try using a mineral deodorant - alunite - before your regular antiperspirant. That's the only way I managed to cope in my time. Unfortunately, you can't completely get rid of this, especially if it's hereditary. However, I would still recommend checking your thyroid and nervous system if possible. Try to stress your nervous system as little as possible, don't overload it, and ideally even strengthen it.

It seemed so. 14 years old - the peak of hormones and body restructuring - a veeeeery high chance that with years everything will become easier. At such an age, Driclor helped me - you can apply it to both palms and underarms. Don't worry about your clothes - I also can't afford tight tank tops and have generally switched to black on top (it's less noticeable on it). and the main thing is to maintain hygiene - a wet spot is not as scary as smells... 😆 good luck 😊

Wiping your hands on the duvet, that's certainly "smart". If you don't mind ruining the duvet, then go ahead. But it's better on your clothes, it'll have the effect of a stinky wash. Buy deodorants, then you won't be a close relative of a skunk.
